PALAK/SPINACH TIKKI

Palak/Spinach tikki  is very healthy and easy snack recipe prepared using potatoes and spinach. If you are working women and to try out something new and quick do try this simple recipe. Serve it with tomato ketchup and cup of tea/coffee. You can also try poha tikki , parsley tikki , Oats tikki , Vegetable cutlet.

Preparation time : 20 minutes
Serves : 12 tikkis/cutlet

Ingredients
Palak chopped - 2 cups
Potatoes - 2
Broken cashews - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Urad Dal - 1 tsp
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Onion chopped - 1
Garlic chopped - 3
Green chilis chopped - 3
Asafoetida/Hing - big pinch
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder -1 tsp
Chat masala - 1 tsp
Kitchen king masala - 1/4 tsp
Bread crumbs  - 2 tbsp
Vegetable Oil - 1 tbsp +  2 tbsp for cooking tikkis.
Salt to taste.

Preparation
  • Peel and cut the potatoes and microwave for 5 minutes. and mash them.
  • Heat oil in pan. add cumin seeds and saute for few seconds, add channa dal, urad dal, cashews and saute till light brown on color.
  • Add onion, garlic, green chili and saute till translucent. add mashed potatoes and mix well.
  • Add hing, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, chat masala and mix well all the ingredients.
  • Add chopped palak , salt to taste and cook for 2 minutes. Now add bread crumbs and mix well to form thick dough like texture.
  • Shape them to small tikkis or any shape you desire.
  • Heat oil in tava/griddle. place these tikkis on tava and fry them in medium low flame till they become golden brown in color on both the sides.
  • Palak tikki is now ready. Serve hot with ketchup and cup of coffee/tea and enjoy.
