Onion Uttapam is very popular, delicious South Indian breakfast recipe available in almost all restaurants.We often prepare this for breakfast and we all love it. If you are working women prepare the batter weekend and you can use same batter 3 to 4 days for different recipe . that is you can prepare Paniyaram/appe, Plain dosa , Vegetable Uttapam, , Idli using the same batter. Ingredients
Rice - 2 cup
Urad dal - 1 cup
Big Onion chopped - 1
Vegetable/ coconut oil.

Green chilli - 3
Coriander leaves - 3 strands
Chat Masala - 1/2 tsp
Red chili Powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt to tasteVegetable/ coconut oil.
Preparation
- Wash and Soak rice and urad dal for 4-5 hours.
- Grind them adding little water.make sure that the batter is of medium thick consistency.Allow it to ferment overnight.
- Next morning add salt to batter and mix well.
- In bowl add chopped onions, green chili, coriander leaves, red chili powder, garam masala powder and chat masala and mix well. keep this aside
- Heat the tava and drizzle oil in it.Spread laddle full of batter on tava/ griddle. sprinkle onion mixture onto dosa. add oil to the edges and cover it with lid .cook in medium flame.Once the base turns golden brown flip dosa on other side.Press it slightly and cook for minute to get it roasted. Flip over and transfer it to plate.
- Onion uttapam is now ready. Serve hot with Ginger/Coconut chutney and enjoy
