YELLOW JEERA RICE

Jeera Rice is Indian Rice recipe made of rice and jeera. It is very simple dish to prepare, easiest among the rice recipes. I have tried very simple variation to this recipe and it tastes just awesome.  This rice goes well with all type of Indian curries.
Zeera Rice
Preparation time : 20 minutes
Serves: 2

Ingredients
Basmati/Jasmine Rice - 1 cup ( I have used jasmine rice)
Butter - 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds/jeera - 2 to 3 tsp
Broken Cashews -  1 1/2  tbsp
Onion chopped - 1
Green chilis chopped - 3
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Water - 1 1/2 cup
Salt to taste

Preparation
  • Wash the rice and keep it aside.
  • Heat butter in cooker ( I have used pressure cooker without whistle for this recipe)
  • Add cumin seeds and broken cashews and saute for a minute till cashew becomes light brown.
  • Add turmeric powder, chopped onion, green chilies  and saute till onion becomes translucent.
  • Now add rice, 1 1/2 cup of water, salt to taste. mix well. cover the cooker without whistle. Once you see that the steam is escaping switch the flame to medium and cook for about 12 to 15 minutes leaving it undisturbed.
  • Yellow Jeera Rice is now ready. Serve it with your favorite dish and enjoy.
