Oats Ragi Idli is healthy, nutritious, tasty breakfast recipe prepared using quick oats and ragi flour. It is very good to have this in your diet. So I thought of preparing simple recipe using these two ingredients. This is just variation to my other idli recipes. Try this out and do share your comments and variations.

Serves : 20 medium idlis
Ingredients
Ragi/Finger Millet Flour - 3/4 cup
Quick/Instant Oats - 1/2 cup
Coconut/Vegetable oil - 1 tbsp + to grease idli plates
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Channa Dal - 1 tbsp
Broken cashews - 1 tbsp
Curry leaves - 6
Onion - 1
Green chili - 3
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida/hing - small pinch
Salt to taste
Water - 1 cup
Coriander leaves - 5 strands

Asafoetida/hing - small pinch

Water - 1 cup
Coriander leaves - 5 strands
Preparation
- Dry roast oats for 2 minutes.
- Heat oil in pan. add mustard seeds when they start to splutter add curry leaves, chana dal, broken cashews and saute till golden brown.
- Add onion, green chili, salt, turmeric powder and hing , coriander leaves and saute for minute. switch off the flame.
- Add dry roasted oats, ragi flour, 1 cup of water and mix well. batter is now ready.
- Add 2 cups of water in pressure cooker/steamer and heat in medium flame. I have used pressure cooker without whistle.
- Grease idli molds/plates with oil. Pour the batter on to idli molds and once steam starts escaping cook in medium flame for about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove the idli using spoon.
- Oats Ragi Idli is now ready. serve it with coconut chutney and enjoy
