OATS UPMA

Oats Upma is  healthy, delicious Indian breakfast recipe prepared with quick oats. This is very filling. You can make N variations to this upma recipe using different vegetables, spices. Today I am going to write simple basic recipe prepared using quick oats.
Preparation time : 15 minutes
Serves : 2

Ingredients
Vegetables Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds  - 1 tsp
Urad Dal - 1 tsp
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 5
Dry Red chili - 2
Green chilis chopped - 3
Onion chopped - 1
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Hing/Asafoetida - big pinch
Quick Oats - 1 cup
Water - 1/2  cup
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves - to garnish

Preparation
  • Heat oil in pan. add mustard seeds. when they start to splutter add urad dal, channa dal and saute till golden brown. Now add curry leaves, dry red chilis, turmeric powder, hing and saute for few seconds.
  • Add onion and green chilis and saute till translucent.
  • Add quick oats and roast them for 1 to 2 minutes in medium to low flame. Add  half cup of water and mix everything well. 
  • Cover it with lid and cook it in medium to low flame for 2 minutes and keep stirring.
  • Oats Upma is now ready. Garnish it with coriander leaves. Serve hot and enjoy.
