MUSHROOM GRAVY

Mushroom Gravy is a very delicious dish that can be served with Rice/ Bread recipes. This dish is always special to me as this is my husband's recipe. Mushroom was not my favorite till I had this dish. It is very simple to prepare and tastes just awesome. I just can't stop having this. Do give it try. Its worth it.

If you are non-vegetarian feel free to substitute mushroom with your favorite meat :)Vegetarians can substitute with babycorn / Cauliflower/ Panner/ Tofu.
Mushroom Recipes
Preparation time : 25 minutes
Serves : 2

Ingredients
Mushroom chopped - 8 oz
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Garam Masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Cream/Milk - 1/2 cup
Tomato ketchup - optional
Salt to taste
Butter/Vegetable Oil  - 2 tbsp
Coriander leaves - to garnish

For the masala
Broken cashews - 1 tbsp
Onion roughly chopped - 1
Garlic cloves chopped - 7 to 8
Ginger - 1 inch
Cumin seeds - 1 1/2 tsp
Cloves - 2
Green chillis - 3 to 4
Dry Red chilli - 3
Cardamom - 1
Cinnamon stick - 1 inch
Bay leaves - 2
Tomatoes chopped - 2 to 3

Preparation
  • Heat tbsp of oil/butter in pan. Add all the ingredients mentioned in 'For the masala' except the tomatoes and saute for at least 5 minutes till the onion turns light brown in color. Now add tomatoes and saute for a minute. switch off the flame and allow this to cool down.
  • Now grind this adding very little water to for smooth thick paste.
  • Heat oil/butter in pan. add the mushrooms and saute them till they are half way cooked.
  • Add the ground paste, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, salt to taste. If your adding milk add it at this point along with ground paste and bring this to nice boil. If your using cream add it once the ground paste comes to nice boil.
  • Mushroom Onion Tomato Masala is now ready.Garnish it with coriander leaves. Serve it hot with rice/roti and enjoy
Tip
  • You can adjust the salt and spiciness adding red chilli powder, tomato ketchup or sugar (This is optional and may vary as per your taste).
